The EXTREME 4X4 Air Clutch. Fits all TDSc and TDsi Champion Winches.

On Line Fitting Instructions.

1/ Before commencing disconnect or isolate the positive live feed to the winch.

(We recommend removing and placing your winch in a comfortable clean working environment)

2/ Remove the 3 Allen key bolts and remove the gear box cover.

3/ Undo and remove the Allen Key Screw retaining the manual freespool arm, the arm should now lift off.

4/ Undo the 3mm Allen Key Grub Screw retaining the manual freespool clutch.

5/ Unscrew anti clockwise and remove the manual freespool clutch body.

6/ Manually turn the winch drum so the locating hole in the ring gear looks like this.

7/ Screw in Clockwise your New Air Freespool Clutch. (We recommend applying a small amount of silicone sealant around the thread before fitting)

8/ Refit the 3mm retaining Allen Key Grub screw to lock the Air Freespool Clutch in place. (Do Not Over Tighten)

9/ You can rotate the Winch Gearbox if needed by unscrewing and removing the nine 4mm Allen Key Bolts, rotate to desired position and refit and tighten the Allen Key Bolts.

Now is a good time to actuate the solenoid and ensure that the air clutch engages and disengages fully. You may need to rotate the drum by hand.

10/ You may want to seal the gearbox end cover with silicone sealant. (Recommended)

Replace the gearbox end cover and secure with the 3 Allen Key Bolts.

Refit into your Winch Bumper or as seen in the pictures below into your rear Winch Tray.

11/ You can now run the Air line supplied in the fitting kit from your winch to your compressor. Do this the same way as running an ARB Air Locker line or Extended Breathers. Always make sure the Air line is secured well and out the way of where it could get damaged.

12/ Airline Gland fitting.

Note: Not all compressors are the same in design. You will need to determine which output from your compressor you are going to use to install the gland fitting kit supplied.

We recommend using PTFE tape on the Gland threads.

13/ If you have a free output on your compressor, simply take out the blanking grub screw and screw in your new blue easy push fit connector. This will be now ready for your short 6mm connecting pipe.

14/ If you are fitting to an ARB compressor which is already set up for Diff Lockers, remove one of the ARB solenoids from your compressor. Remove the straight coupler from the ARB solenoid and replace it with your ‘T’ piece from your fitting kit. Now screw your ARB solenoid with new “T” piece into your now free air compressor outlet. Do not over tighten your fittings.

15/ Now take your 6mm blue easy push in gland from your fitting kit and screw it into the top of your newly fitted ‘T’ piece. Taking care not to over tighten.

16/ Now connect your short 6mm connecting pipe supplied in your fitting kit.

(Below is a picture of my ARB compressor that is setup for front and rear ARB Locking Differentials. You can get an idea from the picture on how yours should now look)

“You are now ready to fit the 12 volt air valve solenoid and the switch from your fitting kit”

17/ Find a suitable position to mount the air valve solenoid using the M6 nuts, bolts and washers provided. Fit this near to the compressor so your short 6mm pipe will reach. Once fitted connect your short 6mm pipe into the end without an arrow mark on it. Now fit your other 6mm pipe from your winch air freespool clutch to the end marked with an arrow.

(We recommend fitting the air valve solenoid out of reach of water)

Here is my completed install.

As you can see from the Picture below, I have a 3rd Middle  Air Output.

I Drilled and Tapped the Air Chamber. (1/8 BSP thread is needed) ready to take the male, female female “T” Piece. I used a 6mm push in connector the same as in the Extreme 4x4 Fitting Kit for my Air Output. I then blanked off the spare female output with a Stainless Steel O-Ring Blanking Plug ready for future use i.e. front Winch Air Freespool.

21/ Run a cable from the middle terminal that should be marked 'acc' of the switch to the +ve side of the air valve solenoid.

22/ Run a cable from the -ve terminal of the switch to a good earth on the chassis or to the negative side of the vehicles battery.

23/ Run a cable from the -ve side of the air valve solenoid to a good earth on the chassis or to the negative side of the vehicles battery.
